Broadway Park West Officially Opens Along the Huron River in Ann Arbor |
Transforming a Historic Industrial Site into a Vibrant Community Hub |
Ann Arbor has unveiled its latest gem: Broadway Park West, a seven-acre public space along the Huron River, officially opened on September 12, 2025.
This transformative project, spearheaded by the Lower Town Riverfront Conservancy, revitalizes a former industrial site into a dynamic community hub.
The park boasts 1,200 feet of riverfront trails, seamlessly connecting to the Border-to-Border Trail, enhancing accessibility for pedestrians and cyclists alike.
At the heart of the park lies The Commons, a two-acre, tree-lined elliptical lawn designed for gatherings, events, and leisure activities.
“Broadway Park West is not just a park — it's a vibrant new chapter for Ann Arbor's riverfront,” remarked Marie Klopf, President of the Lower Town Riverfront Conservancy.
“We invite everyone to join us for this exciting celebration and make the park their own.”
The opening weekend was marked by a series of celebratory events.
Festivities commenced with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on the new pedestrian and cycling bridge, followed by guided park explorations, a Motown DJ happy hour, and an evening dance party featuring local favorite Joe Hertler.
The celebrations concluded with Bubble Fest, Ann Arbor's first-ever bubble-themed event, delighting families with interactive activities, coffee for adults, and ice cream for children.
“This opening represents a milestone for Ann Arbor,” said Mayor Christopher Taylor.
“Broadway Park West not only provides new ways to experience the Huron River but also demonstrates the power of partnerships between public, private, and philanthropic organizations.”
Looking ahead, Broadway Park West is the first phase of a larger redevelopment plan for the 14-acre site.
Future phases aim to introduce housing, a boutique hotel, and neighborhood retail spaces, further enriching the Lowertown Neighborhood.
